Rwanda will host the sitting volleyball championship at the African level which will be held on September 13-17, as announced by the Rwandan Paralympic Committee. Seven teams of men and four women’s teams will be in Rwanda for the competition.
This championship was postponed from the beginning, because of Kenya which was to host it in May, had refused to organize the tournament for lack of money because the Kenyan government did not support the national Paralympic committee of Kenya .
The teams that will come for the tournament are Egypt, Rwanda, Morocco, Algeria, Kenya, DRC and South Africa, while in the women category, Egypt, DRC, Rwanda and Kenya, will also participate.
The organization of the whole tournament will cost around 61 millions Rwandan francs. All games will be played at Petit stade, Remera, there will be 15 international referees including 6 Europeans referees.
For the moment, Rwanda holds a good place in Sitting Volleyball , the women’s team is the 1st in Africa and tenth on the world ranking, the men’s team are the 5th in Africa and the 25th in the world.
