On its first day, the Rwanda premier ligue began with a bit of surprise with a victory of APR FC 2-0 against Sunrise FC at Kigali stadium.

They scored their first goal in the beginning of 2nd half, 46 minutes scored by Hakizimana Muhadjili and an own goal from Mushimiyimana Regis.

Last season APR beat Sunrise twice in the league, 2-1 and 1-0 respectively.

Sunrise FC finished in ninth place with 33 points under interim coach Andre Casa Mbungo, who has since joined SC Kiyovu. The Nyagatare-based outfit is now under new head coach Alphonse Gatera.

Elsewhere, Mukura VS has managed to win against Kirehe 1-0 at Nyakarambi ground.  Under their new head coach Aboul Karim ‘Coka’ Nduhirabandi, Kirehe FC haven’t signed many players due to tight budget.

Mukura VS have strengthened their squad ahead of the season start by signing goalkeeper David Nshimirimana from Musanze FC, former Muzinga FC captain Saidi Iragire , Ugandan forward Rachid Mutebi as well as Omar Rwabugiri formerly of Musanze FC and Alexis Nkomeje from AS Kigali.

Gicumbi FC hit hard Espoir FC 2-1, as Okoko savored with his team, after surviving relegation on the last day of the season while Jimmy Ndizeye starts bad. They have signed striker John Semazzi from Ugandan league side Vipers, Maurice Uzayisenga from Gicumbi FC, Emmanuel Uwimana from AS Kigali, Regis Twagizimana and Abdul Mudeyi (both from Amagaju FC) and Manisura Senzira from Marine FC.
