The multi-award winning group from Kenya, Sauti Sol received a honorary reception at the Bujumbura International Airport yesterday afternoon as they landed in Bujumbura ahead of their back-to-back shows in Burundi this weekend.

Everything was set up to welcome the Kenyan stars. The Ambassador of Kenya in Burundi, accompanied by Miss Burundi and his dauphins, a delegation of young people from the capital and – icing on the cake – 2 drum group, offered the Sauti Sol Group a welcome at the height of their celebrity. Did you know? The Burundian drummers are a prestigious national treasure only preserved for Presidents and Prime Ministers.

For the artists, this welcome was worthy for kings. “We still don’t get back. Seeing drummers welcome us while we know that it is reserved for great personalities is something that has touched us enormously “says Otieno Polycarp, guitarist of the group.
