On Friday, DR Congo coach Florent Ibenge announced his
list of 26 Leopards selected for the double shock of the
2018 World Cup qualifiers against Tunisia (1 and 5 September).
Asked about Dieumerci Mbokani’s new absence, the technician revealed that the striker of Dynamo Kiev (31 years old), in shape at the start of the season, simply retired internationally. “In the aftermath of the CAN in Gabon (in February, note), he sent me a text message telling me that he stopped with the national team,” Ibenge told a press conference.
We must of course be careful since the former player of Anderlecht, who has 3 CAN in the meter, has already made several decisions before coming back on his choice.
